On 22 July, the independent global creative agency Jung von Matt unveiled NERD London, an agency specialising in creating authentic connections between brands and fandom communities.
With 39 offices in 11 countries, JvM has already launched NERD in other parts of the world, including Germany and Asia. Founded by Toan Nguyen, Partner at JvM Group, NERD is well-established with partnerships including Mini x Pokemon concept cars, Super Mario Haribos, global gaming campaigns for Mercedes-Benz and BMW, and more.
In a press release, Nguyen said: ‘Nerd culture and fandoms have become the new pop culture of the next generation. Brands need to focus on communities now because the old way of marketing is dead. There is no mainstream anymore! The nerds and geeks who spent hours playing video games and reading comics have now grown up and are running the world.’
NERD’s London branch will be led by Calvin Innes, who will be the GM and Creative Director of the agency. Innes also commented on the new offering:
Brands that embrace this movement can step into a whole universe of possibilities, engaging their audiences through gamification and special products, creating fiercely loyal fandoms, and exploring unique and unexpected partnerships
JvM’s new offering seeks to demonstrate the agency’s intent to become a key player in the UK market.
