Facebook introduces new monetisation tools for creators

Facebook introduced a new set of tools for Instagram last week aimed at keeping creators on its platform.

One of the new tools that Facebook called “native affiliate tool” allows creators to earn commissions from their collaborations with brands. Creators will be able to tag brands in their Instagram posts, and will be rewarded for the income they generate. Users will be made aware via “eligible for commission” tag at the top of the post. This new tool will first be available for US-based creators and businesses including Benefit, Kopari, MAC, Pat McGrath Labs and Sephora.

Creators will also be able to link their shop, if they have one, to their personal profile in addition to their business profile, as well as set up a new shop.

With the introduction of the new tools Facebook intends to put creators at the heart of its e-commerce model, hoping this will enable creators to remain on the platform instead of moving on to rivals such as TikTok.
